DRUG IMPORTATION CHARGES
Under 21 U.S.C. ยง 952 it is a crime for a person to import into the United States any prohibited controlled substance, which includes marijuana. There are generally three ranges of punishment depending on the kind of drug and the quantity of the substance. The different levels of punishment are (1) mandatory minimum of ten years to life sentence in prison; (2) mandatory minimum of five years to forty years sentence in prison; or (3) a sentence of zero to twenty years in prison.
