Man Arrested With Explosives At Airport
Federal law enforcement agents arrested a man at a Texas airport yesterday after explosives were discovered in his luggage. The man, whose name has not yet been released, was detained at a security checkpoint at the Midland International Airport around 9 o'clock in the morning after TSA officials noticed a suspicious article in his carry on bag. A spokeswoman for the city of Midland believed the suspicious article was explosives in military-grade wrapping. Officials for the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) took the man into custody, but would not confirm whether or not the man was carrying explosives until tests were conducted. According to reports, the man identified himself as being active in the military and stated that he and his family were on their way back to his military base in North Carolina. A spokesman for American Airlines confirmed that the man had reserved a seat on a flight from Midland to Dallas, Texas. Airport security closed the checkpoint for an hour after the man was arrested and a sweep of the terminal was conducted before normal business resumed.
